Assam Experience the Beauty of Wildlife and Enjoy the Tea Paradise

Assam is a state notable for wildlife, archeological and tea plantations in north-eastern India. The state was known as the first oil drilling sites in Asia and is home to one horned rhinoceros in India.

The Kingdom of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh is bordered on the north, the states of Nagaland and Manipur on the east, the states of Mizoram and Tripura to the south, and Bangladesh and Meghalaya and western Bengal to the west.

The state also witnessed the beginning of stone age. The state was also ruled by many dynasties, starting from Danava dynasty, then Naraka Dynasty and in then slain by Krishna. This was ruled by many rulers (Chutiya, Dimasa, The Ahoms and The Koch) at various points of time. This state was separated from Bengal in 1906. Incorporated as Eastern Bengal in 1905 and it then established as Assam province in 1912. The states of Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram got separated from Assam in 1960-70s. The capital of Assam was shifted to Dispur from Shillong after the Indo-China War in 1962 and as a result, Arunachal Pradesh was also separated out.

CLIMATE

The atmosphere is marked by strong moonballs, which decrease summer temperatures and in winter, sometimes during the afternoon and foggy nights because it is situated at the south of Eastern Himalayas due to which the maximum temperature varies between 35-38 degree Celsius. The agriculture of Assam also depends on the Monsoon rains.

FOLK DANCE AND LANGUAGES

Assam is home to many communities of people, including Mongolians, Indo-Burmese, Indo Iranians and Aryans, Rabha, Bodo, Kachari and Karbi, Mising, Kacharis and Mishimi. The official language of Assam is ASSAMESE but due to its shared boundary with West Bengal, the BENGALI is considered to be the second most spoken language here. HINDI, BODO, NEPALI, SADRI, MISHING and ODIA etc. are some of the other languages that are spoken by the people living here. BIHU, BAGARUMBA, BHORTALJHUMUR and OJAPALI are among the leading dances in Assam. The Assamese music’s basic characteristic is its descending scale which makes it different from the raga-based or folk music from the rest of India. Assam's indigenous music consists of songs from Bihu, Bodo, Karbi and Mising, all arranged and singing in a Pentatonic way close to traditional Chinese music, which demonstrate the heavy impact of Chinese music on Asamese culture.
